EMERGENCE
Fog can turn an ordinary scene into something truly special. On this frigid morning I had a good feeling I would come away from the shoot with a portfolio worthy image. The fog was so thick that I had to wait until the sun rose further in the sky to allow the structure of the bridge to emerge. The sun settled directly behind the central pylon of the bridge and I knew this was the shot to take. It shows the mood and atmosphere that can only come from fog as dense as this.
Convergence
Architectural photography has always been about shape and texture. The leading lines of this tower converge with such symmetry that I couldn't pass up the chance to capture this view. This image is typically printed on metallic fine art paper to give the final product a modern, streamlined feel which is ideal for subjects such as this.
CARTIER NIGHTS
The Jaques Cartier bridge links Montreal to Longueuil and comes alive at night with an array of colours that change with the seasons. The black and white version of this image emphasizes the shapes and textures of this massive structure. Cartier Nights looks best when printed on metallic fine art paper, which shows the intricate detail of this iconic Montreal landmark.
MORNING SOLITUDE
Winter mornings can bring a sense and peace and calm, especially when paired with snow and fog. On this chilly December morning the silence was broken for just a fleeting moment by a lone figure making his way through the fresh snow.
INDIGO SANDS
With its isolated location and clear skies, New Zealand is home to some of the most spectacular sunsets on the planet. The west coast sports a number of prime locations and Bethells Beach is at the top of the list. I had the entire beach to myself for this sunset and settled on a minimalistic approach to the image. A long exposure taken just as the sun slipped below the horizon captured the sense of peace and serenity I felt in that moment...
HORSEShoe Bay Approach
Low lying cloud and fog work together in this image to create a sense of peace and tranquility. This image shows the rugged beauty of the Pacific Northwest in the winter, and with its muted colours it complements almost any decor.
