Although product photography has its place, product rendering is an essential part of the product development process. Some advantages of renderings over product photography are:

• Timing – product renderings can be produced long before prototypes or actual samples are available. This allows you to market your product even when it is still in the design stage. Prospective customers will have a greater sense of anticipation about your upcoming product when they can actually see it.

• Look and feel of the images – many products do not photograph well. Size is one aspect of a product that can have an impact. If your product is too large it can be difficult to produce a well lit image that shows the product on its own without any distracting background elements. Conversely, small products can require specialized equipment such as macro lenses in order to be photographed properly.
